Choice...

Recently, I heard a lot of people complaining about their "choices".  Some of them complained about how their choices were made by the others or how others "forced" them to make choices.  The fact is, in the real world, in a free society, 99% percent of the time we make our "own" choices.  So, stop complaining how your choices were made by the others.  The fact is, when a choice is made, you really need to be brave and work towards the goals.  When you hit some tough spots on the road, you need to tell yourself: "I made this choice, and I will make it work".  If you always blame on others you will never grow up and learn from your experiences.

For example, I came to the US in 1995, graduated from the University of Michigan in 2000.  At the time, it was very difficult to find a job partly because I did not have the Green Card.  I also did not do very well in the Business School.  I then got admitted into the School of Information.  I finished my degree in year 2002 and found my current job to work as a IT Network Administrator.  If things did not work well, was I supposed to blame my parents because "they told me to come to the US?"  In the end, it was ME who made the decision to come here.  It was ME who made the decision to stay in Michigan and worked in Detroit.

My wife always said to me she came to Michigan because of ME.  It was not her decision to make.  We all understand it is difficult to be far from home.  Who says life is easy?  However, I keep telling her that it was OUR decision to stay in the United States.  It is extremely tempting and easy to blame on the others when things do not go well in life.  It does not help if you do not take ownership of your own life.  YOU ARE THE ONE WHO MADE THE CHOICES and YOU NEED TO STEP UP TO THE PLATE and work things out.

I hope we grow together...
