Choice...

Recently, I heard a lot of people complaining about their "choices".  Some of them complained about how their choices were made by the others or how others "forced" them to make choices.  The fact is, in the real world, in a free society, 99% percent of the time we make our "own" choices.  So, stop complaining how your choices were made by the others.  The fact is, when a choice is made, you really need to be brave and work towards the goals.  When you hit some tough spots on the road, you need to tell yourself: "I made this choice, and I will make it work".  If you always blame on others you will never grow up and learn from your experiences.

For example, I came to the US in 1995, graduated from the University of Michigan in 2000.  At the time, it was very difficult to find a job partly because I did not have the Green Card.  I also did not do very well in the Business School.  I then got admitted into the School of Information.  I finished my degree in year 2002 and found my current job to work as a IT Network Administrator.  If things did not work well, was I supposed to blame my parents because "they told me to come to the US?"  In the end, it was ME who made the decision to come here.  It was ME who made the decision to stay in Michigan and worked in Detroit.

My wife always said to me she came to Michigan because of ME.  It was not her decision to make.  We all understand it is difficult to be far from home.  Who says life is easy?  However, I keep telling her that it was OUR decision to stay in the United States.  It is extremely tempting and easy to blame on the others when things do not go well in life.  It does not help if you do not take ownership of your own life.  YOU ARE THE ONE WHO MADE THE CHOICES and YOU NEED TO STEP UP TO THE PLATE and work things out.

I hope we grow together...

Richard the Mule - Sick but recovering

Richard - The Mule injured his eye couple days ago. He is a great mule and we all love him. We were worried that he would not take the medication but the last I heard was that he was taking them slowly. He is not happy that he does not get to go out. We hope that he would fully recover soon and join his friends to play.

Get well! Richard!

Day 1

The flight from Detroit left on time and I arrived at Orlando around quarter to 12pm. However, the room of the hotel was not ready and I had to wait for more than 90 minutes before I got the room. Fortunately, I got a nice room with good connection of High Speed Internet Access.

In order to avoid the morning rush tomorrow, I completed the check in. Since this is my 3rd TechEd, I got the alumni had and badge holder. I walked around the huge conference center and learned where each of the specific section was. I am now getting ready for tomorrow's official start of the conference!
